Full Description
October-November 2020. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of Anglian Water Norwich to Wymondham water pipeline (Area 5).
This survey identified no responses of definite archaeological significance. Much of the site was however obscure by a band of magnetic disturbance associated with a modern service. The more notable responses included a single large discrete anomaly of undermined origin and an east-to-west aligned linear anomaly, both at the northern end of the site. The latter coincides with a former field boundary depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition Six-inch map (S1).
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 1 November 2022.
April-May 2021. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Anglian Water Norwich to Wymondham water pipeline (Trench 6).
The single trench excavated at this location revealed no archaeologically-significant features or deposits.
It should be noted that although located in the northernmost part of the site it didn’t coincide with either of the anomalies identified by the geophysical survey.
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 1 November 2022.
