Full Description
June 2021. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Anglian Water Bexwell to Bury St Edmunds pipeline (Trenches 2-5).
Four trenches were excavated, one of which was positioned to investigate a possible ploughed out medieval or post-medieval boundary bank visible on visualised lidar data (one of two possible banks recorded as NHER 66463). No features or deposits associated with this possible bank were identified. The other trenches also revealed no archaeologically-significant remains.
A single unstratified Roman pottery sherd was the only find recovered.
See report (S1) for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 14 April 2023.
July 2021. Desk-based Assessment.

For further details see report (S2), which was submitted as part of the Environmental Statement for the scheme.
P. Watkins (HES), 14 April 2023.
