Full Description
A group of military buildings associated with Downham Market airfield (NHER 2455) are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946. A variety of structures are visible and their functions are currently unknown, although it is likely that many were accomodation blocks. The majority of the buildings visible on the aerial photographs are depicted on an Ordnance Survey Six-inch map published in 1952 (S1), but all were subsequently demolished. The site is now ploughed arable land and recent aerial imagery provides no evidence for surviving remains at this location.
See NHERs 63351, 65670, 66474-66480 and 66482-66483 for details of the other satellite sites associated with the World War Two airfield.
