Full Description
October-November 2022. Trial Trenching.
Archaeological evaluation undertaken ahead of proposed reordering of the Abbey Estate (Trench 8).
The single trench excavated revealed no archaeologically-significant features or deposits.
It appears this location saw only minimal disturbance during the construction of the Abbey Estate in the 1960s, with an apparently undisturbed subsoil layer surviving beneath the topsoil.
No finds were recovered.
See report (S1) for further details.
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2022.302).
