Full Description
December 2022. Casual Observation.
World War Two spigot mortar pedestal discovered in pond at TG 03392 29154 [1].
This was intact but had clearly been displaced - the original location of the mortar emplacement is unknown. The only other World War Two era structure known in the parish is a probable Home Guard store that stands on Church Lane (NHER 60148), approximately 550m to the west.
The remains of what appeared to be a vintage motor vehicle of some kind were also visible in the pond.
See photographs (S1).
P. Watkins (HES), 3 January 2023.
