Map

October 2013. Watching Brief.
Maintained during re-excavation of infilled marl pit.
No archaeologically-significant features or deposits were recorded. The material removed was largely the fill of the old pit, with undisturbed natural deposits only exposed around its upper margins.
A post-medieval crotal bell found in the plough soil nearby is recorded under NHER 66818.
See report (S1) for further details.
Although the report on this work does not accurately locate the marl pit, recent aerial imagery suggests it lies just to the north-west of the Warham Burrows enclosure (NHER 1827).
