Monitoring of excavation of relatively shallow new pond as part of Broadland Flood Alleviation Project (Compartment 6a).
No archaeologically-significant features or deposits were recorded.
The excavation of this pond to a depth of approximately 0.4m revealed a dark brown-black peat in which fibrous plant material was evident. This was overlain by a dark grey-brown silty clay. The uppermost deposit at this location also consisted of peaty material. Large pieces of natural, unmodified wood were noted but not removed.
