Summary

At some time in the latter half of the 20th century two Neolithic polished flint axeheads were found somewhere in the Bawsey/Middleton area. These were offered to the King's Lynn Museum in 2023 and although it is known who had found the axeheads, their exact provenance was unfortunately not recorded.

Map

No mapped location recorded.

In 2023 two Neolithic polished flint axeheads were offered to the King's Lynn Museum by [1]. These were discovered during a house clearance and had originally been found by [2]. They are believed to have come from the Bawsey/Middleton area, although the only other information available is that they were "…found when there was a lot of extraction going on for the construction of the London overspill estates like Fairstead". This is at least consistent with the suggested provenance as there are many former extraction pits in the Middleton/Leziate area, which is not far to the east of the Fairstead estate on the outskirts of King's Lynn. There is no evidence that these objects had been previously reported/recorded.
Information form King's Lynn Museum [3].
