Summary

This building dates to 1570 or 1610 and was extended in 1706. It was originally a moated hall. It stands on the site of Abbot Sampson's (of Bury St Edmunds) hall of 1190. Post medieval pottery has been found here.

Full Description

Site of abbot's residence of 1190. Present house of 1570 or 1610 extended 1706. Alternative theory that this is the site of Sexton's Hall manor house but (S1) confirms this is the abbot's manor site.
