Full Description
September 2021. Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
A series of ditch features which may date to the medieval to post medieval period can be seen as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1-S2). The majority of the features most likely relate to a series of medieval to post medieval field boundaries. An area of possible medieval strip fields is also seen in the centre of the area. A possible enclosure feature of an unknown date is seen in the south of the area. It is unclear as to whether the feature is archaeological or natural in origin and has therefore been mapped by extent. Although the majority of the features most likely date to the medieval to post medieval period, it’s possible that some of the features may be earlier in date.
J. Powell (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 01 September 2021.
