Full Description
World War One memorial with World War Two additions
Location: West side of the churchyard of the Church of All Saints’, Church Road, Alburgh
Type: Latin cross
Description: The memorial is in the form of a plain Latin cross set on a square, three-stepped base. It is in a gravelled square marked with bollards enclosed by a simple chain. The material is sandstone quarried from Robin Hood Bay in Scarborough. An inscription was added in 1947 for WW2 servicemen and three plaques inside the church detail dates and places of death. The principal inscription is on the west face of the cross arms. The names of WW1 fallen are on the west faces of the steps of the base. A further inscription on the south face of the middle step is for WW2 fallen with names listed on the top step. The memorial was repaired in 2010, including areas of de-laminated stone and replacement of some original stone.

2010. Repairs
Conservation and repairs were undertaken in 2010 funded by a grant from the War Memorials Trust. Areas of de-laminated stone were repaired and some original stone replaced.
