Summary

A World War One memorial commemorating the fallen of the parish of Geldeston. It is in the from of an octagonal-plan cross made of limestone. It was erected around 1920.

Type: Cross (octagonal-plan)
Description: The memorial is in the form of an octagonal-plan cross made of limestone. The shaft sits on an octagonal plinth with “arch-headed niches on each face” (S3). Carvings of badges are in each niche, with one also reading 1914 to 1918. The plinth sits on a four-stepped base. On the top two steps on the base is the initial inscription underneath the dates. On the other sides are the corresponding regiments underneath the carved badges. The second step lists the fallen.
