World War One memorial with World War Two additions
Location: Roadside, Junction of Church Road and Winterton Road, West Somerton
Type: Pillar
Description: The memorial is in the form of an octagonal pillar made of granite. At the top of the pillar is a sleeping lion. The pillar is placed on an octagonal plinth on top of an octagonal tier base. The WW1 inscription is placed on the north-east face of the pillar with the WW2 addition on the north-west face.

Unveiled: Assumed planned and erected around 1920, when the majority of Norfolk’s war memorials were commissioned. Additional research required.
Inscription: IN MEMORY OF THE MEN OF / EAST AND WEST SOMERTON / WHO FOUGHT IN THE GREAT / WAR FOR LIBERTY 1914 1919 / THE FOLLOWING GAVE THEIR LIVES
