Summary

Earthwork banks, mounds and a pit which may relate to post medieval to modern parkland features associated with West Bradenham Park (NHER 51552) are visible on recent (2017) visualised lidar data. It is also possible that some of the earthworks may have been associated with a possible medieval moat (NHER 8717) recorded in close proximity.

Map

September 2023. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
Earthwork banks, mounds, and a pit of a possible post medieval to modern date are seen principally on recent (2017) visualised lidar data and aerial photographs (S1-S2). The features are situated within West Bradenham Park (NHER 51552). The earthworks may relate to post medieval to modern parkland features. Although, it is possible that some of the earthworks may be the result of modern landscaping undertaken at the site (see NHER 8717). It is also possible that the bank centred at approximately TF 9187 0991 may have related to a former post medieval boundary bank. A section of a possible medieval moat (NHER 8717) has also been recorded in close proximity to the earthworks. It is possible that some of the earthworks may have related to the possible medieval moat site, although, a post medieval to modern date for the mapped features is more suitable. The features are not recorded on the readily available historic maps (for example S3-S4).
