Map

September 2023. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
An earthwork curvilinear ditch (since levelled) of an unknown, but possible medieval to post medieval date is seen on aerial photographs (S1). The date and function of the feature is unknown. It is possible that the feature may have related to a medieval to post medieval field boundary or drainage ditch. The feature is in close proximity (approximately 77m) to a medieval moat (NHER 1037) to the west and in close proximity to West Bradenham Hall (NHER 8718) and Park (NHER 51552) to the east. It is possible that the ditch could have related to either the moat or the park. Although it is equally possible that features are unrelated. The ditch can be seen well as an earthwork on S1. The ditch is presumed to have been levelled as the feature is not visible on later subsequent sources such as the recent (2017) visualised lidar data (S2).
