Map

September 2023. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The site of a possible post medieval building platform can be seen as an earthwork (since levelled) on aerial photographs (S1). The feature consists of an earthwork mound which appears to correspond with the site of a post medieval building recorded on the Tithe map (S4). The building does not appear on the later Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6" map (S5) or the Ordnance Survey 2nd edition 25" map (S6). Although the feature is likely to date to the post medieval period, an earlier medieval date cannot be ruled out. The possible building platform can be seen as an earthwork on the 1946 aerial photographs (S1). The feature is presumed to have been levelled as the earthworks are not seen on later aerial photographs (such as S2) or on the recent (2017) visualised lidar data (S3). A further mound possibly relating to the site of a post medieval building (NHER 67631) has been recorded approximately 35m to the north.
