Summary

An apparently intact World War Two spigot mortar pedestal was noted at this location in 2023. Only the uppermost portion of the concrete pedestal is currently visible so it is unclear if any other elements of the mortar emplacement survive.

Noted by [1] while surveying a footpath at Buxton Mill:
Previously unrecorded World War Two spigot mortar pedestal ('thimble'). The concrete pedestal is circular with an intact stainless steel pin. As only the uppermost portion of the pedestal is currently exposed it is unclear whether other elements of the mortar emplacement survive.
