Full Description
November 2023. Casual Observation.
Noted by [1] while surveying a footpath at Buxton Mill:
Previously unrecorded World War Two spigot mortar pedestal ('thimble'). The concrete pedestal is circular with an intact stainless steel pin. As only the uppermost portion of the pedestal is currently exposed it is unclear whether other elements of the mortar emplacement survive.
See photographs (S1).
