Map

November 2023. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
Linear field boundaries, probably of post medieval date but potentially modern in origin, are visible as soilmarks on 1970s aerial photographs (S1). They may be partially visible as extant boundaries and/or earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs (such as S2), but these are far from clear. They are not depicted on the consulted 19th and early 20th century maps (such as the Ordnance Survey 2nd edition 25 inch map, S3), so presumably either pre-date this period, or reflect activity in the early 20th century. They appear to be earlier than the Second World War airfield (NHER 7275) but could conceivably relate to its earliest phases.
