Summary

Enclosures and boundaries, probably of medieval to post medieval date, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and visualised lidar data. The visualised lidar data, which is from a relatively recent (2017) survey, demonstrates that most of the earthworks have been wholly or largely levelled. A very spread bank at the southern end of the site may still survive as a low earthwork.

Map

December 2023. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
Enclosures and boundaries, probably of medieval to post medieval date, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (S1) and visualised lidar data (S2). It is possible that some elements could instead be drainage ditches. The visualised lidar data, which is from a relatively recent (2017) survey, demonstrates that most of the earthworks have been wholly or largely levelled. A very spread bank at the southern end of the site, which appears to be related to the other features but this is not certain, may still survive as a low earthwork.
