Full Description
April 2023. Metal-detecting. [1].
Found within 20ft [6m] of each other:
8 medieval coins - all of Edward III and dating to between 1335 and 1377. The mix of denominations (1 groat, 6 pennies and 1 halfpenny) suggests these coins probably represent a purse loss. Their condition indicates they probably went into the ground during the 1380s (the lack of any coins of Richard II making deposition after this date unlikely).
Information from PAS import.
This coin hoard was disclaimed as Treasure (Ref: 2023 T1090) and returned to the finder.
P. Watkins (HES), 13 October 2024.
