Summary

A geophysical survey of this site in 2022 identified nothing of definite archaeological interest. The only responses of note were a number of weak, fragmentary linear anomalies. These are regarded as being of undetermined origin and so potentially represent archaeologically-significant remains - although a natural or agricultural origin is also possible.

October 2022. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of proposed development site (Area 3).
This survey identified nothing of definite archaeological significance.
The only responses of note were a number of weak fragmentary linear anomalies of undetermined origin. These may represent archaeologically-significant remains but it is equally (if not more) likely that they are of natural origin or the result of recent agricultural activity. If they are indeed ditches they must predate the 19th-century arrangement of the park as no equivalent boundaries are shown on the available 19th century maps.
A small number of scattered dipolar anomalies were probably caused by ferrous objects on or close to the surface – most likely modern debris.
The margins of the survey area were obscured by magnetic disturbance caused by fencing and other modern structures.
Information from draft report.
