Summary

Group of post-medieval walls now enclosing an area containing only modern buildings. The flint and brick south wall forms the northern boundary of the churchyard of SS Peter and Paul's Church (NHER 7123). This wall is the earliest, being of 16th-century and later date. The other walls are of red brick and date to between the early 18th century and mid 19th century. The northern wall incorporates two deeply serpentine crinkle-crankle sections. This group of walls was listed Grade II in 2000.

Listing Description excerpt:
"Boundary wall consisting of part of churchyard wall to south, 16th century and later; mid-19th-century east wall with north section of early 18th-century [date]; north wall dated 1803; west wall late 18th century. 16th-century wall of flint and brick, remainder of red brick.
NORTH SECTION: consists of two lengths of deeply serpentine crinkle-crankle wall linked by a central straight length with a datestone TAE 1803. Brick laid in mixed header bond and Flemish bond; triangular coping bricks. Coping to west part of wall replaced 1990s.
EAST SECTION: begins at south with a segmental doorway with high flanking walls left and right, that part to right rebuilt late 20th century. Wall continues with mid-19th-century Flemish bond and triangular coping bricks. Near north end is a pedestrian door set under a pointed gauged arch. Wall north of this of early 18th-century date.
WEST SECTION: wall swept down from north-west corner in mixed header and Flemish bond; triangular coping bricks.
SOUTH SECTION: mixed flint and brick laid in irregular courses. Coping lost, and patched with mortar."
