Summary

The earthworks and cropmarks of probable medieval to post medieval field boundaries are seen on aerial photographs and visualised lidar data. As the survey was flown relatively recently (2017) it is likely that the bank features still survive as low earthworks.

Map

January 2024. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The earthworks and cropmarks of probable medieval to post medieval field boundaries are seen on aerial photographs and relatively recent (2017) visualised lidar data (S1-S4). The northern bank and ditch can be seen as earthworks on the 1940s aerial photographs (S1). The ditch appears to have been subsequently levelled and can be seen as a cropmark on S2 and S4. The two bank features are visible on the visualised lidar data. As the survey was flown relatively recently (2017) it is likely that the bank features still survive as low earthworks. The features are not recorded on the readily accessible historic maps such as S5.
