Map

February 2024. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
A Second World War practice trench is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs (S1). More recent aerial photographs (such as the most recent available Google Earth imagery from 2022, S2) show that the area has been built over and the earthworks presumably levelled. The trench does not appear to be associated with other Second World War defences, so is assumed to be a practice trench, but the possibility that it served a defensive function cannot be ruled out.
