Summary

Trial trenching at this site in 2020 uncovered a number of pits and several linear features. Although these remains contained little in the way of dating evidence it is likely that most (if not all) were associated with recent horticultural activity. Finds were limited to several worked flints of probable Mesolithic/Early Neolithic date and an abraded Roman pottery sherd.

January 2020. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site.
The five trial trenches excavated revealed a number of pits and linear features, the majority of which were probably associated with recent horticultural activity. Finds were limited to three worked flints of likely Mesolithic/Early Neolithic date and an abraded sherd of Roman pottery – all of which were probably residual.
