Map

April 2024. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The cropmarks of probable medieval to post medieval field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs (S1). The date of the features is unknown. However, the alignment of the features is broadly similar to the surrounding boundaries recorded on the Ordnance Survey 2nd edition 25" map (S2), which may suggest a medieval to post medieval date for the features. A high number of multi-period finds (NHER 44099) have also been previously recovered from across the area. A dense area of geological cropmarks is visible across the area on S1. It is possible that some of the features dismissed as being geological in origin could relate to archaeological features.
