Full Description
May 2024. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project (volunteer strand).
A probable medieval to post medieval boundary bank is visible as a low earthwork on visualised lidar data, from a survey flown in 2017 (S1). As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently, it is probable that the earthwork still survives. The bank may be a former field boundary, but is relatively wide, and could alternatively be the remnants of a road or track. It also lies close to the parish boundary (to its north), and could be associated with this in some way. Other earthwork banks visible in the vicinity on the same source correlate with post medieval field boundaries depicted on 19th and early 20th century maps (such as the Ordnance Survey 2nd edition 25 inch map, S2) and have not been recorded.
