Full Description
May 2024. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
Site of probable boundary and drainage ditches of a likely post medieval or possibly medieval date are visible as earthworks (since levelled) on aerial photographs. The features are not visible on the relatively recent (2017) visualised lidar data and are presumed to have been levelled. The features approximately centred at TF 9639 0939 and TF 9644 0938 may have related to possible medieval to post medieval field boundaries. However, it is equally possible that these features may have related to post medieval drainage ditches. The feature centred at approximately TF 9640 0934 may relate to a post medieval drain. However, it is also possible that this feature may relate to a medieval to post medieval boundary ditch or section of a rectilinear enclosure. The mapped features are not recorded on the readily accessible historic maps such as S4-S5.
