Map

June 2023. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The cropmarks of a probable post medieval metalled trackway or road are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S3). The trackway is likely to be post medieval in date, although, a medieval date for the feature cannot be ruled out. A section of the trackway in the south of the area (centred at TF 8761 1000) is visible as a spread cropmark bank on S3. The bank feature has most likely been spread as a result of modern ploughing and has therefore been mapped by extent. Further cropmark sections of the trackway have been recorded approximately 750m to the northwest (NHER 66914). Also, to the northwest (centred at approximately TF 8731 1034, additional elements of the trackway (not mapped) appear to have been solidified into the post medieval and modern field boundaries and tracks (recorded on S5-S7 and also visible on S4). The trackway also follows the alignment of a footpath recorded on S7 and S8.
