Full Description
June 2023. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The cropmarks of three banks of an unknown, but probable medieval to post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs (S1). The features most likely relate to former medieval to post medieval field boundaries. It is also possible that the parallel boundaries in the east of the area (centred at TF 8763 1020) could have related to a trackway. The features are not recorded on the historic maps but do fit the same general pattern and alignment of the post medieval boundaries recorded on S2 and S3. The parallel banks in the east of the area may overlay the low earthworks of a possible medieval to post medieval boundary bank (NHER 66964). The relationship between the earthwork bank and the cropmark parallel banks is unknown.
