Full Description
September 2023. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
Probable medieval to post medieval ridge and furrow and probable likely associated field boundaries are visible as earthworks (since levelled) on aerial photographs taken in 1946 (S1). The features appear to have been levelled on aerial photographs taken 1971 (S2) and are not visible on the relatively recent visualised lidar data from a survey flown in 2017 (S3). Although the features likely date to the post medieval period, a medieval date for the features cannot be ruled out. The probable ridge and furrow and field boundaries may be associated with a further area of field boundaries (NHER 67622) recorded approximately 18m to the south and to an area of possible medieval to post medieval settlement recorded approximately 85m to the north (NHER 67620).
J. Powell (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 29 September 2023.
