Summary

A probable causeway, boundary or drain, possibly of medieval to post medieval date, is visible as an earthwork on visualised lidar data. The site lies a short distance to the west of a medieval moat (NHER 17696), with which it may be associated. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2017) it is probable that the earthwork still survives.

Map

December 2024. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
A probable causeway, boundary or drain, possibly of medieval to post medieval date, is visible as earthworks on visualised lidar data (S1). The site lies approximately 40m to the west of a medieval moat (NHER 17696), with which it may be associated. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2017) it is probable that the earthworks still survive. The earthworks are not particularly clear, and while more prominent elements have been mapped individually, the features as a whole has been mapped by extent.
