Full Description
December 2024. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
A group of what appear to be small enclosures, of probable medieval to post medieval date, is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (S1) and visualised lidar data (S2). The enclosures lie 35m to the north of a medieval moated site (NHER 17696) and may be contemporary with its use. There are lots of drainage ditches in the area surrounding the moat, and an alternative interpretation of the recorded features is that they are simply part of the drainage system. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2017) it is probable that the earthworks still survive.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 16 December 2024.
