Full Description
May 1983. Documentary Research.
Hunstanton 1844 tithe map (S2) depicts what seems to be a circular moat at this location. It does not appear on earlier maps of the Le Strange family dated 1615 (S3) and 1765 (S4), but the accuracy of these earlier maps is uncertain. The feature may actually be a late example of a duck decoy. See unpublished dissertation (S5) for further research on decoys in the county.
