Map

In March 2019 a previously unrecorded spigot mortar pedestal ('thimble') was exposed by groundworks at this location and photographed by two members of the public [1]. This and a second spigot mortar pedestal exposed nearby (NHER 68758) were the subject of a post on the 'Pillbox Study Group' forum (S1), with both subsequently added to the 'Extended Defence of Britain Online' dataset (S2). A photograph taken by another member of the public in 2020 [2] confirms that the pedestal remains in situ.
The pedestal is circular with an intact stainless steel pin and appears to be largely complete, although it is unclear whether other elements of the mortar emplacement survive.
