Summary

A watching brief maintained during the excavation of a soakaway at this location in 2017 recorded a possible extraction pit. Although no finds were recovered from this feature it was most likely medieval in date.

August 2017. Watching Brief.
Maintained during excavation of rectangular soakaway adjacent to Pye's Lane.
These excavations revealed a small possible extraction pit beneath the banked verge, cut into a natural chalk deposit. Although no finds were recovered this feature was most likely medieval in date.
