Summary

A test pit dug at this location in 2017 encountered only a compacted mix of redeposited soil, rubble and other modern debris, indicating this area had been heavily disturbed during the construction of the nearby school buildings. Apart from two burnt flint the finds recovered were all of modern date.

Excavation of test pit as part of the Norfolk Archaeological Trust's 'Imagined Land' project - a community archaeology project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (Test Pit 13).
This test pit proved to be located within an area of heavily landscaped ground, with only a mix of redeposited soil, rubble and other modern debris encountered. Excavation had to be halted at a depth of 0.25m when this material became so compact it could only be removed with a mattock. Apart from two burnt flints all of the finds recovered were of modern date.
