Map

August 2018. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of geotechnical investigation undertaken ahead of proposed upgrades to the Islington Pumping Station.
A test pit dug at this location revealed a possible pit. The date of this feature is uncertain as although it was noted that its fill contained frequent fragments of ceramic building material, none could be safely recovered. It was sealed by layers of soil thought to have been dumped during the post-medieval period. Similar dumped soils containing fragments of post-medieval ceramic building material were noted in several of the nearby test pits.
Information from report uploaded to OASIS. HER copy awaited.
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2019.84).
