Summary

Areas of possible medieval to post medieval ridge and furrow are visible as low earthworks on visualised lidar data. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2017) it is likely that features still survive as low earthworks. It is also possible that the features could relate to modern activity

Map

February 2025. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
Areas of possible medieval to post medieval ridge and furrow are visible as low earthworks on visualised lidar data (S3). As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2017) it is likely that the features still survive as low earthworks. It is also possible that the features could relate to modern activity. The possible ridge and furrow also appears to be cut by the earthworks of possible modern drainage ditches or earthworks associated with tree planting (not mapped; aligned approximately northwest to southeast across the area) visible on S1-S3.
