Full Description
March 2025. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
An undated linear ditch is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S1). It lies a short distance to the north of a ring ditch (probably the site of a Bronze Age round barrow; NHER 7244), an undated (possibly prehistoric or Roman) rectilinear enclosure (NHER 36389) and to the west of the Launditch linear earthwork (believed to be of Iron Age or Saxon date; NHER 7235). It is not known whether it has any association with or is contemporary with any of these features. Spatially, it appears to overlap with the edge of a low earthwork ditch thought to be part of the Launditch (NHER 66995) but as the two features are visible on different sources, their relationship is uncertain, contrary to how it may appear from the AIM mapping.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 19 March 2025.
