Full Description
April 2025. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
A broad, irregular ditch, probably a former watercourse, is visible as an earthwork on visualised lidar data (S1), adjacent to the site of medieval Wendling Abbey (NHER 7281). It may represent an earlier course of Wendling Beck, which lies to its north, but may also have been created and/or augmented to operate as part of the water management system surrounding the abbey site. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2017) it is probable that the earthwork still survives.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 14 April 2025.
