Map

August 2016. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of extensions to west and south of existing dwelling.
The trenches excavated revealed no archaeologically-significant remains. The footings for the western extension revealed evidence for considerable recent disturbance, with an imported topsoil lying directly above the natural geological deposits. This topsoil contained considerable quantities of modern brick and tile. The only feature recorded was a pit of obviously modern date. The southern extension coincided with the footprint of an earlier structure. A layer of broken concrete was recorded, which lay above made-ground deposits.
See report (S1) for further details.
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2017.368).
