Summary

In 1966 a Late Upper Palaeolithic flint blade and a small number of Roman pottery sherds were recovered during the excavation of a grain-tipping pit.

1966. Stray Find.
Found by [1] at a depth of 9-10ft [2.7-3.1m] when digging grain-tipping pit in Dairy Meadow Field (200yds [183m] south-west of Place Farm):
1 prehistoric worked flint flake (also 1 natural pot-lid fracture on fossil sponge).
Roman pottery sherds, including 1 greyware base sherd (S1) and 4 black-burnished ware sherds.
Finds donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1966.681.18).
Information from (S2) and (S3).
Although the flint flake was originally recorded as Neolithic it was subsequently reidentified as a Late Upper Palaeolithic long blade (S4).
