Full Description
March 2023. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on route of proposed West Winch Housing Access Road (Section 3).
This survey of the north-western half of the site identified nothing of potential archaeological interest.
A number of parallel linear anomalies were the result of recent agricultural activity and scattered discrete ferrous anomalies were probably caused by ferrous objects on or close to the surface (most likely modern debris).
See report (S1) for further details.
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2023.118).

See report (S2) for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 4 August 2025.
April-May 2025. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on route of proposed West Winch Housing Access Road (Trenches 52-69).
The 18 trenches excavated at this location revealed various ditches and a single possible pit.
Finds were limited to a single pottery sherd of 19th- or 20th-century date which was recovered from a somewhat irregular east-to-west aligned linear feature at the eastern edge of site. The undated ditches recorded were all aligned either north-west to south-east or north-north-east to south-south-west.
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 4 August 2025.
