Full Description
March 2023. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on route of proposed West Winch Housing Access Road (Section 5).
This survey identified nothing of definite archaeological interest.
A series of widely-spaced parallel linear anomalies were almost certainly the result of agricultural activity and it is suggested these could represent the traces of former ridge and furrow cultivation.
Scattered discrete ferrous anomalies were probably caused by ferrous objects on or close to the surface (most likely modern debris).
See report (S1) for further details.
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2023.118).

April-May 2025. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on route of proposed West Winch Housing Access Road (Trenches 107-108, 112, 114, 117 and 120).
Six trenches excavated along the western edge of this site revealed only an undated north-to-south aligned ditch.
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
