Summary

A watching brief maintained during river restoration works at this location in 2018 recorded no archaeologically-significant remains. The monitored groundworks were though largely limited to the removal of the topsoil layer, which revealed material likely to represent historical dredgings.

October 2018. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks undertaken as part of the River Wensum River Restoration and Habitat Enhancement Project.
Excavations for a deflector and two berms at this location revealed no archaeologically-significant remains. The groundworks were though largely limited to the removal of the topsoil layer, which exposed material likely to represent historical dredgings.
