Map

September 2013. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of creation of new pond as part of a wider scheme of restoration works along the River Nar.
The excavation of this pond exposed a north-east to south-west aligned ditch that produced no finds but was most likely associated with a post-medieval boundary. On a similar alignment to the to the east of this feature was a compacted deposit of orange sand, gravel, chalk and flints that produced two fragments of medieval/early post-medieval brick. This material was likely to represent the remnants of a bank, the alignment of which appears to have been slightly divergent from the present field boundary.
See report (S1) for further details.
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2022.109).
