Summary

A number of earthwork features were noted in this area during 1968. However, visits to the site in 1978 and 1995 failed to find any trace of these earthworks and as such they had either been destroyed or erroneously identified.

Earthworks claimed in this area 1968 (NCM card).
Visited by E. Rose 27 April 1978.
No trace of earthworks. Area indicated lies behind Oak Cottage and is a wilderness of long grass and dumped rubbish with a modern track crossing it. No irregularities visible at all.

1995.
Earthworks noted in 1968 not evident. Significant slope from main road up to a generally even area, with a slight depression towards the south.
Widow of former smallholder remembers some dumping of spoil, but no detail.
Chicken runs and small buildings were on site for many years.
Fine walnut tree in centre of area.
