Summary

The site of a brick kiln is marked on Faden's map of 1797. The kiln may have produced bricks for late 17th century construction work at Bowthorpe Hall. A farmer has reported ploughing up red coloured soil on the site. It should however be noted that a programme of archaeological evaluation undertaken between 2013 and 2014 revealed no evidence for a brick kiln at this site.
