AE of Constantine II, minted in Treves period IV between AD 341-364 obverse CONSTANTI VSPFAUG, head to the left. Reverse VICTORIAEDDAVGGQNN- Two Victories facing, each holding wreath.
For reference see (S1). Sketch on (S2).
Compiled by E. B. Green (NCM).

2007. Above coin reidentified on the basis of the NHER entry.
The emperor should be Constantius II and the date 341-8. The head should also be to the right although the slight possibly that the coin is irregular should probably not be discounted. This is most likely a typo, however. The use of 'Treves [for Treveri] period IV' is LRBC parlance and equates to LRBC nos 137ff. The 'Two Victories' type represented by the reverse legend is a common mid-4th century type.
A. Marsden (NLA), 29 January 2007.

Site of former petrol station visited during construction works for new houses.
Deep trenches dug by contractors for footings revealed about 1m of rubble and mortar make-up with one tarmac surface, over 1m to 2m of apparently homogenous dark loam with post medieval finds throughout. Boulder clay subsoil at 3m or deeper, cut by possible features, some probably of post medieval date. Danger of trench collapse made close inspection impossible. Spoil heaps carefully searched, but only post medieval pottery and bricks represented, and not collected.
Visited and compiled by D. A. Gurney (NLA), 10 March 1989.
